The Monroe Symphony Orchestra is ushering in the holiday season with a festive chamber performance featuring the Lagniappe Brass Quintet on Tuesday, December 9, at Grace Episcopal Church.
The Lagniappe Brass Quintet is composed primarily of ULM faculty members, including Dr. James Bolden on horn, Dr. Eric Siereveld on trumpet, Adam Johnson on trombone, and Alan Parrish on tuba. They will be joined by organist Rick Seiler and guest trumpeter Megan George of Louisiana Tech University. The group focuses on sharing both classic and contemporary brass music while collaborating to bring unique programs to the community.
The performance will feature a mix of sacred works, Renaissance pieces, and well-known holiday favorites such as Carol of the Bells, White Christmas, and Sleigh Ride. Attendees can expect a rich, warm brass sound that evokes seasonal traditions, with a program that blends familiar melodies and lesser-known holiday gems. The concert will also include an audience sing-along near the end of the evening.
As part of the Symphony’s 54th season, the event highlights the talent within the larger orchestra while giving listeners a chance to connect more personally with its musicians. The Lagniappe Series emphasizes the charm of chamber music, offering direct interaction with performers and a closer look at their artistry.
General admission tickets are $25, student tickets are $5, and season subscribers may attend at no additional cost. Tickets are available at mymso.org. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.
