Coach Phil Cunningham states a key part of rebuilding ULM program is recruiting. As for recruiting he states that having talent is a major part in succeeding at this level.

ULM Men's Basketball has at least 2-3 players returning from the previous year. Coach Cunningham also wants these players to provide a great example and experience on the goals that are being set for the upcoming year.

Coach Cunningham also leans on relationship building. He wants him and his coaches to dwell on building trust and relationships with his players as he believes that college basketball is way more than NIL or making is professionally it's about the comradery.

Coach Cunningham also added assistant coaches such as Derrick Zimmerman a Monroe native, Franklin Miskelly from Kansas State, and also returned Chris Woodall which was on the staff this previous basketball year.

Lastly, Coach Cunningham is all in on player development on how the players develop or increase their game of play in the offseason as well in the season as the season goes on. He also states "The students are a big part of the puzzle" in getting more students and the community to come out and pack Fant Ewing Coliseum.
