ULM Cheerleading places second in division at Nationals

University of Louisiana Monroe

MONROE, LA – The University of Louisiana Monroe Cheerleading team placed second out of seven teams in the Small Co-Ed Division of The College Classic National Championship in Orlando, Fla. On April 13-14, 2024.

This event marked the first time the ULM Cheerleading team has competed in the Small Co-Ed Division in over 10 years.

“The growth of these athletes throughout the season is a testament to their perseverance and grit, rewarded by their history-making division entry and the hardware,” said ULM Cheerleading Head Coach Sammi Spivey. “As 2023 All-Girl National Champions, it was a difficult decision to make the division change to Small Co-Ed from All-Girl, but receiving second place in this division shows us we are moving in the right direction,” continued Spivey.

“Nationals season is always difficult,” said ULM Cheerleading Lieutenant Courtlyn Gremillion. “We have to learn choreography and stunts within a short window after football season and then perfect it. I’m proud of how our team rose to the challenge and handled adversity this season,” added Gremillion.

The 2023-2024 ULM Cheerleading team includes Maribeth DeWitt, Captain; Faith Gaude, Co-Captain; Courtlyn Gremillion; Lieutenant; Anna Bennett; Madelyn Bozeman; Ashlee Lewis; Tra’Nyce Spencer; Makenzie Mitchell; Lydia DarDar; Ambria Miller; Landry Brancamp; Mia Butler; Taylor Ann Harding; Mallory Coker; Molly Gallaspy; Deahvionne Moore; Taylor Smith, Shelby Weaver, Shelby Leavings, and Freddie Lewis.
