UL President Responds To Grambling Search Firm's Letter

ulsystem.edu

University of Louisiana System President Sandra Woodley says her office received a letter from the firm hired to conduct a search for Grambling State University's next president.

In the correspondence, The Hollis Group states a repeated concern among candidates over the position because of the state's budget woes.  "They have a pretty good pool, but none (candidates) want their names mentioned due to the uncertainty of the budget issue coming up in the legislature," said Woodley.

In April, legislators begin a session where they'll be facing a $1.6 billion shortfall.  Higher education cuts could be as high as 40% of campus' current operating costs.

Woodley says the she and the search committee will meet with the firm to discuss changing the timeline of the search.  The original plan intended for the vacancy to be filled by April.
