ULM Professor To Give Free Presentation On WWII

Dr. Ralph Brown, associate professor of history at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will present “Heroes of World War II” at the Louise Williams Branch of the Ouachita Parish Public Library, at 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, July 16.

Brown will examine the background and context of WWII (1939-1945) and he will explore the reasons why the United States became involved in the war in Europe and in the Pacific.

In addition, Brown will highlight the activities of two American combatants, U.S. Army Lieutenant Paul Fussell, and U.S. Marine Infantryman Eugene Sledge.

Brown previously presented a World War I lecture in Lincoln Parish as part of the 100th anniversary of what would be called “The World’s First Great World War.” Brown discussed the circumstances and situations that lead to the conflict.
