Local Groups Take Part In Record-Breaking Swimming Lesson

The YMCA will partner with the West Monroe Boys and Girls Club to host the record breaking World's Largest Swimming Lesson.

The YMCA Mobile Aquatics Team will be teaching the World's Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL). The WLSL is an international event that promotes water safety and teaches swimming techniques.  The lesson will be taught simultaneously in each time zone.   Approximately 30,000 children and adults participated last year worldwide.

Olivia Mills,  YMCA Aquatics Program Director, says the local number of children participating in the WLSL has doubled since last year. "We're projected, right now, to have over 50 kids there so far. Last year we only had 25 with us," Mills said.

The Mobile Aquatics Team partners with community pools to teach swimming lessons to children and adults throughout the spring and summer.

The WLSL will begin Thursday, June 18 at 10:00 A.M. at the West Monroe Boys and Girls Club.
