The Salvation Army is excited to celebrate National Salvation Army Week in Northeast Louisiana from May 11 to May 17, 2026.  For over 160 years, the organization has been dedicated to helping individuals and families in crisis, providing help and hope for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and financial hardship.

National Salvation Army Week was first proclaimed by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower on November 24, 1954, to honor the organization's service and remind Americans to give generously. Today, The Salvation Army works in more than 134 countries worldwide. In the USA, The Salvation Army is issuing a rallying cry for Americans to "Give with joy."

In Northeast Louisiana, The Salvation Army has provided care and practical support to more than 10,000 individuals and families facing crisis. This includes 12,000 shelter nights, 25,000 meals served, and emergency financial assistance for more than 600 neighbors working to regain stability.

"National Salvation Army Week presents a wonderful opportunity for us to let the community know more about the work of The Salvation Army in Northeast Louisiana," said Captain Jerome Casey, Corps Officer with The Salvation Army. "We want to recognize and celebrate the donors, partners, supporters, and volunteers who make the ministry of the Army possible and invite everyone to join us as we celebrate National Salvation Army Week."
