Monroe Symphony League Hosts Annual Spring Book Sale

The Monroe Symphony League (MSL) is hosting its annual spring book room fundraiser this Friday, Mar. 6; and Saturday, Mar. 7; and then again next Friday, Mar. 13; and Saturday, Mar. 14. at their office on 320 N. 4th Street. 

The entrance fee is $2 per adult on the first day only. Remaining dates are free to the public. 

MSL is the philanthropic organization for the Monroe Symphony Orchestra that was created to raise money for music education in Northeast Louisiana. Since its founding, the group has offered several musical opportunities for the community. 

Mark Henderson, a member of MSL,  says the organization's primary focus is to raise money for the Marjory Strickland Emerging Artist Competion. "It [the competiton] happens once a year and rewards young Louisiana musicians with a scholarship and an opportunity to play with the orchestra."

This year, the book room has a wide variety of genres for sale including suspense, romance, science fiction, history, cookbooks, and religion. There will also be CD's, DVD's, vinyl, sheet music, art, puzzles, and much more. All procceds from these items will be used to support the projects of MSL.

The schedule for the sale is as follows:

  • Friday, March 6                  9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 7              1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Friday, March 13                9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 14            9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
