Ouachita Parish Library moves in the Spooky Season with Halloween-themed events

The Ouachita Parish Public Library is embracing the spirit of Halloween with a series of themed events throughout October, offering something for readers and thrill-seekers of all ages.

The monthlong celebration kicks off with family-friendly films, hands-on activities, and literary-inspired gatherings at multiple branches. One of the highlights, Arsenic & Old Lace, will be held on October 22 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Main Branch. Guests can enjoy tea service while exploring how poison has been portrayed in classic literature.

Teens can look forward to the Zombie Prom on October 25 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the West Monroe branch. Open to ages 12–18, the event features music, games, zombie makeovers, button-making, refreshments, and costume contests. Admission is free but requires a ticket.

Families can also catch The Haunted Mansion at the Spooky Cinema on October 18, part of the library’s weekend movie lineup.

Library staff say the events are designed to connect the community through creativity, learning, and a shared love for storytelling just with a Halloween twist.
