Monroe Fire Department responds to houseboat fire on the Ouachita River

The Monroe Fire Department responded to a houseboat fire on the Ouachita River around 11 a.m. The houseboat was located near Dillingham Drive. The fire department was having difficulty accessing the fire because the boat was behind the levee and in a very wooded area that was damaged in the 2019 Easter tornado.
Strong winds were pushing the flaming boat upriver behind the Masur Museum of Art. The boat was about 60 feet long and had burned down to the waterline. It was last seen headed toward the marina behind the old Howard Griffin building.
