The NELA Food Bank's Empty Bowls: Where Art And Fundraising Meet

https://tinyurl.com/wqf9dfw

The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is hosting the 4th Annual Empty Bowls event on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m at ULM's Bayou Pointe Event Center. The goal is to raise awareness about hunger while also raising necessary funds to provide food assistance to those struggling with hunger in our community.

With an all-inclusive $40 event ticket, guests can choose their own bowl to take home as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community. According to the Food Bank's external communicatons officer, Sarah Hoffman, "this event would not be possible without a lot of wonderful local artists making and donating hundreds of the handcrafted bowls." The ticket also includes a food tasting of signature dishes from over a dozen local restraunts.

Along with the delicious treats, Empty Bowls will offer guests a chance to experience local art. Live music will be provided by local musicians during the event where guests can enjoy an on-site pottery demonstration, face painting, and more. One featured art piece will even be a part of the event's raffle.

Tickets are $10, and the winner will receive a framed, silkscreen print of a famous George Rodrigue Blue Dog painting, titled "A Number One Tiger Fan." The painting includes a Rodrigue Estate stamp and is valued at $2,000. Every $10 raised by the Food Bank during the raffle will help the staff feed 55 meals to locals in need.
