Tuesday, July 16, the Twin Cities Mayors' Committee on Disabilities is hosting their 2019 TCMCD Awards Banquet.

This event is a fundraiser to aid in the seven scholarships that will be awarded to disabled students of this community. When asked who the Mayors' Committee on Disabilities is, Katie Sivils, the chairperson, responded, “We are advocates for the disabled. Our main purpose is to see that students’ with disabilities are able to go to college”. The banquet will be held at the West Monroe Convention Center at 6 p.m. and the tickets for this event are $30 per person. Tickets can be bought at the door or online and include entrance, a meal, and entertainment. During this event there will be awards given to members of the community that are disabled themselves or advocate for the disabled. Sivils was asked what got her involved with the event and the committee and she answered, “I’ve always been a volunteer in the community and that was one of the things that I felt I was called to do, in helping those with disabilities. I enjoy doing that”. For more information on this event, tickets, and nominations visit www.tcmcd.com
