2 Hurt in Wreck during Louisiana Police Chase

A police officer and a driver have been taken to a hospital after a wreck during a police chase in Louisiana. Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. told news outlets the wreck happened around 10 a.m. Sunday while officers were chasing a juvenile in a suspected stolen vehicle.

Coppola said preliminary information shows the officer was assisting the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office in stopping a reported stolen vehicle when the Baton Rouge officer was involved in a crash.

He says the officer and the driver of that vehicle were taken to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. Their names have not been released.

Coppola said the suspected stolen vehicle was stopped on Interstate 12 and a female juvenile was taken into custody.
