Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to host series of free cancer screenings in communities across NELA

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s Prevention on the Go program, in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Health, will host free colorectal cancer screenings in communities across Northeast Louisiana over the coming days. Early detection is key when it comes to cancer diagnosis and treatment, so residents are encouraged to come out and take advantage of these free cancer screening opportunities.

Appointments are required. Please call (318) 414-9758 to make an appointment.

Baskin Town Hall, located at 1325 Highway 15 in Baskin, is taking appointments from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on June 22.

Gilbert Community Center, located at 1571 Hannah Street in Gilbert, is taking appointments from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 22.

Wisner Town Hall, located at 9530 Natchez Street in Wisner, is taking appointments from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on June 22.

West Ouachita Senior Center, located at 1800 N. 7th Street in West Monroe, is taking appointments from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 23.

Burg Jones Community Center, located at 2601 Burg Jones Lane in Monroe, is taking appointments from 10 to 11 a.m. on June 28.

Foster Heights Community Center, located at 800 Swayze Street in Monroe, is taking appointments from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 28.

Claiborne Community Center, located at 200 Claiborne Creek Drive in West Monroe, is taking appointments from 1 to 2 p.m. on June 28.

South Pointe Community Center, located at 100 South Pointe Avenue in Monroe, is taking appointments from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on June 28.

Chauvin Pointe Community Center, located at 325 Chauvin Pointe Drive in Monroe, is taking appointments from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 29

Frances Tower Community Center, located at 300 Harrison Street in Monroe, is taking appointments from 1 to 2 p.m. on June 29.

McKeen Plaza Community Center, located at 1500 McKeen Plaza in Monroe, is taking appointments from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on June 29.

At all colorectal cancer screening appointments, take-home screening kits will be distributed to men and women who have not been screened for colorectal cancer in the past 12 months. This does not replace a medical examination or other screening procedures.
