Leaders against Litter to be held at WM City Hall

Leaders throughout Ouachita Parish are joining Ouachita Green to participate in the annual "Leaders Against Litter" event on Friday, April 22.

Ouachita Green, which consists of Keep Monroe, West Monroe, and Ouachita Parish Beautiful, is Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) affiliate communities.

Leaders Against Litter gives local leaders the opportunity to demonstrate their support for keeping Louisiana beautiful by leading the charge against litter in our community. The Leaders Against Litter event culminates a week of activities that are known statewide as "Love the Boot Week," which is coordinated by Keep Louisiana Beautiful. Friday also marks Earth Day which is recognized annually on April 22.

Local government officials, business, and community leaders will join Ouachita Green on Friday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. on the steps of West Monroe City Hall, located at 2305 N. 7th Street in West Monroe. This event will include a brief press conference before leaders participate in a cleanup in West Monroe. In the event of rain, the press conference will be held in Council Chambers located on the first floor of West Monroe City Hall.

The special guest for Friday's event will be Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser.

Leaders will be asked to sign a Leaders Against Litter pledge to confirm their commitment to speak up and spread the word that litter is not acceptable, to pick up litter whenever they see it, and to stand up and lead the way for a litter-free Louisiana.

For more information about these activities, contact Ouachita Green Executive Director Aundi Brown 318-355-5622.
