Ferriday Man Gets 5 Years in Beating Death of Louisiana Woman

A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for his conviction in the death of a Louisiana woman beaten at a carwash last May.

21-year-old Donteale K. Carter of Ferriday was sentenced on a manslaughter conviction late last week.

Carter had been charged with second-degree battery after 42-year-old Teresa Poole of Ferriday was attacked at a carwash May 9.

The charge was upgraded to second-degree murder after Poole died from her head injuries May 17. Investigators used video from the carwash to identify Carter as a suspect.

The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office helped in the investigation.
