Learn how the unique culture of northeast Louisiana can be harnessed for economic development. Getyour tickets now to the 90.3 KEDMAnnual Meeting! The luncheon is Thursday, August 10th at 12 noon at the University of Louisiana Monroe Library Conference Center.

Folklorist Dr. Barry Ancelet presents the keynote address Culture as an Economic Driver, Using the Past to Construct the Future.  The economic vitality of northeast Louisiana depends on the cultivation and preservation of the distinct cultural richness of the area. Ancelet shares his experience on how to use and maintain this rich heritage.

Ancelet has spent his life working to honor Cajun and Creole culture. He has degrees in French, folklore, anthropology and linguistics, and retired from the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He helped establish the Lafayette Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, the annual three-day festival celebrating the music, crafts, and food of south Louisiana. He is a 2016 Grammy nominee, and was named Humanist of the Year in 2009 by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

The luncheon honors notable KEDM sponsors and the 2017  Volunteer of the Year; and General Manager Jay Curtis presents the State of the Station, sharing the impact of local investment in KEDM this past fiscal year, as well as what's ahead in Fiscal Year 2018.
