Shreveport, LA (March 3, 2026) — Volunteers of America North Louisiana (VOANLA) recognized outstanding volunteers and community partners during its annual Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Luncheon at East Ridge Country Club. More than 140 guests attended the event celebrating the volunteers who help support the organization’s mission across North Louisiana.
VOANLA President and CEO Carolyn Hammond thanked volunteers for their continued dedication and noted that the organization has served the community for more than 90 years. Over the past fiscal year, VOANLA provided services and support to more than 8,000 individuals through programs for students, seniors, veterans, and people living with mental health challenges.
Six awards were presented during the luncheon to recognize volunteers and organizations whose commitment has made a meaningful difference in the lives of those served. Honorees included Kertenisha “Kay” Artison, Emily Evans, Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Ron Baxter, and Marie Rinaudo.
John and Shan Ponthie were also honored with the Humanitarian Award for their leadership, advocacy, and philanthropic support of VOANLA. The organization continues to serve North Louisiana through programs that support veterans, children and families, individuals with disabilities, and senior adults.
Volunteers of America North Louisiana is a faith-based ministry operating nearly 40 programs designed to provide opportunity, promote dignity, and inspire change in the communities it serves.
