DONALDSONVILLE, La. – River Parishes Community College (RPCC), alongside Hyundai Steel and state and local leaders, broke ground February 6 on the RPCC Hyundai Steel Training Center in Donaldsonville. The new facility, located near Loop 945 and Latino Drive, represents a major investment in Louisiana’s industrial workforce and is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The training center will support a newly developed two-year, steel-industry-focused curriculum aligned with Hyundai Steel’s workforce needs. Students will complete their first year beginning Fall 2026 at RPCC or partner colleges within the Louisiana Community and Technical College System before transitioning to the Donaldsonville training center for specialized instruction.
The program will offer technical diplomas in electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance and advanced manufacturing. A dual enrollment pathway will also allow Ascension Parish high school students to begin technical training early while earning college credit.
State leaders, including Jeff Landry, emphasized the project’s role in aligning education, industry and government to strengthen Louisiana’s industrial economy and expand high-wage career opportunities.
