The U.S. Postal Service is honoring boxing legend and humanitarian Muhammad Ali with the release of two Forever stamps celebrating his life and legacy. Known worldwide as “The Greatest,” Ali was not only a champion in the ring but also a powerful voice for humanity, peace and justice.

Born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. in Louisville, Kentucky, Ali rose to global fame as a three-time heavyweight boxing champion. Beyond his athletic achievements, he used his platform to speak out for civil rights, religious freedom and social justice at a time when many feared doing so. His courage and conviction inspired millions around the world.

The first-day-of-issue ceremony for the Muhammad Ali Forever stamps will take place on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at noon EST at the University of Louisville’s L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, inside the Angel’s Envy Bourbon Club. The event is free and open to the public, with registration encouraged at usps.com/muhammadalistamps. The ceremony will be led by The Honorable Ronald A. Stroman, a member of the USPS Board of Governors.

Ali’s influence extended far beyond boxing. His humanitarian efforts included supporting medical relief, feeding the hungry and advocating for peace across the globe. In recognition of his impact, he was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace in 1998 and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. That same year, he and his wife, Lonnie, founded the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville to continue his mission of compassion and understanding.

The Muhammad Ali Forever stamps serve as a lasting tribute to a man whose life was defined by greatness, generosity and an unwavering belief in the power of love. Through these stamps, USPS ensures that Ali’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.
