MONROE, La. – A Monroe man has been taken into custody following an investigation into a suspected staged-crash and insurance fraud operation.
Adrian Sampson, 21, faces 49 felony charges, including insurance fraud, aggravated criminal damage to property, staging vehicle crashes, and racketeering.
The case began in February 2025 when the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) Office of Insurance Fraud received reports of possible fraud involving Sampson. The LDI referred the case to the Louisiana State Police, who used Anti-Fraud One technology to uncover evidence that Sampson had organized several staged vehicle crashes between May 2024 and September 2025. The fraudulent claims were allegedly intended to collect more than $150,000 from victims.
“Louisiana drivers already pay some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country, and scams like this only make things worse,” said Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple. “These crimes put innocent people at risk and damage the integrity of our insurance system. I commend the LDI Fraud team and Louisiana State Police for their diligent work. Together, we will continue to pursue anyone involved in insurance fraud.”
State Police obtained arrest warrants for Sampson on September 30, 2025, charging him with 16 counts each of insurance fraud, aggravated criminal damage to property, and staging vehicle collisions, as well as one count of racketeering. He was arrested in Bossier City on October 24, 2025.
