Shreveport, La. – BRF and the Committee of One Hundred (C100) have partnered with the City of Shreveport and law enforcement agencies to improve safety and enhance the appearance of Monkhouse Drive, one of the city’s main gateways near Shreveport Regional Airport.
Each organization contributed $30,000, totaling $60,000, to fund new security cameras along Monkhouse Drive. The project is part of a broader effort led by Mayor Tom Arceneaux to upgrade lighting, landscaping, signage, and infrastructure, made possible through the city’s 2024 bond issue.
“Security cameras from the airport to I-20 will provide real-time monitoring to support law enforcement and improve safety for residents, travelers, and businesses,” said John F. George Jr., M.D., BRF president and CEO.
“Investment in this gateway is vital to our region’s economic success,” added David Dethloff, C100 president. “It reflects our pride in the community and our commitment to growth.”
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Shreveport Police Department are key partners in the initiative. A new police substation near Monkhouse Drive has also opened to increase patrol visibility and strengthen safety.
“This collaboration shows what’s possible when public, private, and nonprofit partners work together to move Shreveport forward,” said Mayor Arceneaux.
