New Orleans, LA – Detectives from the Louisiana State Police Force Investigation Unit are actively investigating a trooper-involved shooting that occurred in Orleans Parish late Thursday night.

According to preliminary reports, the incident unfolded on August 7, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., when Louisiana State Troopers conducting proactive patrols in the New Orleans area attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle failed to comply, leading to a pursuit through city streets.

The pursuit came to a halt on Pleasure Street, where the suspect vehicle reached a dead end. As Troopers approached, the driver allegedly attempted to flee by reversing the vehicle toward officers, striking a marked Louisiana State Police patrol unit in the process. In response, one Trooper discharged their service weapon.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene and has yet to be located. Authorities have reported that no injuries were sustained by either the suspect(s) or the responding Troopers during the incident.

The Louisiana State Police Force Investigation Unit is leading the investigation, with personnel actively working to process evidence and gather information at the scene. Officials have stated that this remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional details will be released as they become available.

Residents in the area are urged to contact authorities if they have any information related to the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle.
