Community Survey to Assess Veteran Suicide Prevention Programs

U.S. Capitol
Cory Crowe

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is seeking public comments on a proposed information collection related to suicide prevention programs for Veterans.

This initiative is part of the 'Suicide Prevention 2.0' (SP2.0) program, which includes the Community Opinion Survey (COS) to evaluate the impact of Community-Based Intervention (CBI) programs.

Louisiana is one of the states participating in the Governor's Challenge (GC) Initiative, which aims to implement effective suicide prevention strategies for Veterans.

The survey will collect baseline and follow-up data on the knowledge and attitudes of adults in Louisiana regarding Veteran suicide and available resources.

The data will help measure the effectiveness of the programs and inform future planning and evaluation by the VA's Office of Suicide Prevention.

The survey is expected to involve 44,000 respondents nationwide, with an estimated annual burden of 11,000 hours.

Public comments on the proposed data collection are open until September 2, 2025, and can be submitted via www.regulations.gov.
