On Tuesday, November 14th, the Monroe Chamber hosted the Drax Accent on Excellence Reception where they honored the Teachers of the Year from Monroe City Schools, Ouachita Parish Schools as well as recognizing outstanding faculty from Louisiana Delta Community College, University of Louisiana at Monroe and VCOM Louisiana. The event was held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
Recognized at the event from the Monroe City School System were Tracy Hill, Sallie Humble Elementary; Darius Washington, Carroll Jr. High School and Kody Chase, Neville High School.
Recognized from the Ouachita Parish School System were Jennifer Callender, George Welch Elementary; Karlie Chandler, West Ridge Middle and Kandice Lockwood, Ouachita Parish High.
Distinguished faculty from Louisiana Delta Community College were Linda Brown, Assistant Professor, Associate of Science in Nursing and Deborah Cooper, Assistant Professor of Psychology.
University of Louisiana at Monroe recognized the Dr. Heather Savage, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy.
VCOM-Louisiana recognized Dr. Savannah Newell, PHD, Discipline Chair for Biomedical Affair and Dr. Christopher Clark, DO, Faculty for Family Medicine & OMN for Clinical Affairs.
The awards ceremony is held each year to honor and recognize outstanding excellence in teaching throughout Ouachita Parish.
