This weekend’s Flambeau Music Festival takes place in Ascension Parish and authorities are assuring ticket-holders that safety will be of the utmost importance after Sunday night’s attack at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas. Sheriff Jeff Wiley says preparation is the best plan for a safe and enjoyable concert.

Wiley says it is their responsibility to move forward and reassure that the concert at Lamar Dixon Center in Gonzales will be a safe place. He hopes no one decides not to attend given what happened in Las Vegas.

Wiley says recently, Ascension Parish hosted the balloon festival and is up to the task of protecting concertgoers. He says security will be widespread and obvious.
