On October 21, 2026, United States Chief District Judge Terry A. Doughty sentenced 25 year-old Justavious Williams of Bastrop to 28 years in federal prison.
Williams was charged with Conspiracy to Possess a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and for Possessing a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime. Williams previously pled guilty to these charges in July, 2026.
According to court documents, Williams participated in a methamphetamine trafficking organization. Investigators wiretapped one of Williams' co-conspirator's phones and intercepted phone calls and messages, where Williams mentioned acquiring and distributing large quantities of methamphetamine.
After learning of a scheduled shipment of methamphetamine, investigators observed Williams and a co-conspirator picking up a suitcase. Louisiana State Police (LSP) later attempted a traffic stop, where Williams fled the stop, leading to a brief pursuit before Williams and his co-conspirator were caught and arrested.
An ensuing search of the vehicle revealed approximately 20 kilograms of methamphetamine in the suitcase. Not long after that, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents executed a search warrant at a local address where Williams was found with the same co-conspirator as in the car stop.
Inside, agents discovered firearms along with various amounts of methamphetamine and other controlled substances. A cook lab trailer located behind the residence contained 20,000 methamphetamine pills and more than three kilograms of additional powder methamphetamine.
