The City of Monroe will have a temporary road closure on Plum Street, from Georgia Street down to Jackson Street. To safely install a new 42’ force main pipeline, Pulley Construction, Inc. will close this section to all through traffic.
For this closure, the eastbound lane will be closed, and the westbound lane will remain open to allow local traffic access to homes on this section of Plum Street. The intersection of Plum Street & Florida will be completely closed because the 42" HDPE Pipe string will stretch across the intersection and approximately 200 LF East of it.
Pulley Construction, Inc. will be using specialized drilling and fusion equipment (HDPE and HDD) to complete this vital infrastructure upgrade. “Road Closed to Thru Traffic” signs and physical barricades will be stationed at the intersection of Plum Street from Georgia Street down to Jackson Street.
Barricades will be positioned in this area to ensure the safety of construction workers, motorists, and pedestrians. Minor delays during morning and evening rush hours should be expected. This additional closure will remain in effect until the pipe is pulled in the bore mid to late next week.
The City of Monroe asks that the public remain patient and continue to drive with caution while in the work area. Be advised that it is illegal to drive around barricades.
