The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office warns the public about a scam in which individuals claim there is an issue with the payment kiosk at the Ouachita Correctional Center (OCC) and instruct family members or friends of incarcerated individuals to call a number and make a payment over the phone.
The kiosk at the Ouachita Correctional Center is not broken, and an OPSO deputy would not call and ask you to send or pay money over the phone to get someone released from jail. An incarcerated individual cannot get out of jail simply because a family member or loved one calls a number and makes a payment over the phone.
