Union Museum of History and Art presents its sixth annual Bayou D'Arbonne Folk Festival. This event will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. downtown Farmerville on the plaza of the Union Museum of History and Art, 211 N. Main Street, and the adjoining streets.
Bayou D'Arbonne Folk Festival is a family-friendly folk festival featuring live bluegrass music, dance, arts, traditional pioneer crafts, food vendors, re-enactors, Dutch Oven cookers, a Children’s Art Tent, handmade crafts vendors, and a pie-eating contest.
Performers of the day include the Union Parish High School Band, Dead Reckoning String Band, Holmesville Baptist Church gospel band, Back Forty Bluegrass Band, Backroads Bluegrass Band, The Dance Studio of Union Parish dancers, and Gulf Coast Re-enactors. Traditional skills vital to early North Louisiana settlers will be demonstrated, including pine needle basket-making, hoop net-weaving, blacksmithing, cane syrup-making, quilting, seed-saving, rope-making, crocheting, and hide tanning.
This event is free and open to the public, supported by the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council.
