Celtic Festival kicks off with traditional Highland Games

Saturday, October 3rd will see the return of the annual Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Lazarre Park, West Monroe.

This event will feature live bands, music demonstrations, artisan vendors, food trucks, and even a classic Highland Games—where athletes will compete in Gaelic traditions like the Caber Toss and Scottish Hammer Throwing.

During an interview with Cory Crowe on Lagniappe, Adrienne LaFrance-Wells with the city of West Monroe spoke about the Celtic Festival.

"We have vendors, artisan vendors, people dress up. You will see a little bit of everything at Celtic Festival," said Adrienne LaFrance-Wells. "It has really grown into fun for everyone, for all ages."

Presented by the Kiroli Foundation, the Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival is the longest running festival in Ouachita Parish still in existence, taking place for over 20 years.

Admission for this event is $5 per person, with the proceeds benefiting the Kiroli Foundation and its work. Tickets will be available at the entry gate for purchase.
