Beginning Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Monroe Symphony League will be hosting their annual Book Fair for the first two weekends of October.
The event will be on Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, before continuing on Friday and Saturday, October 9th and 10th of the following week. The book fair will last from 9 AM to 5 PM, on the 3rd, 9th, and 10th, while lasting from 1 PM to 5 PM on October 4th.
During an interview with Cory Crowe on Lagniappe, Mark Henderson from the Monroe Symphony League gave some more information about the Fall Book Fair.
"We have books from all sorts of different styles. If you're interested in cooking, we have a large selection of cookbooks. If you're really interested in trying to learn more about religion, we have a very large religion section," said Mark Henderson. "We have a large paperback section, both fiction and nonfiction, and this time around, we have a fairly large selection of classics, paperback classics that seem to do well."
All books for sale at the book fair have been donated for sale, and as such may be slightly used.
"We curate, and we look at every one of them to decide whether they are just too rough to sell," said Mark Henderson. "But it's a great way to build your library inexpensively, because the most you're going to pay is likely going to be $2."
There will be an admission fee for $2 per day, but all students will get in for free. Money gained from this will go toward supporting the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and financing the educational programs of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra.
The Monroe Symphony League hosts three book fairs per year, and October will be the last one for 2026. It will be located at 320 North Fourth St. Monroe, LA 71201.
Aside from a large collection of books, you'll also find DVD's. CD's, vinyl records, and more.
