Ouachita Green is proud to announce the results of Water Sweep 2026, a parish‑wide cleanup held on Saturday, September 12.
Thanks to strong community participation, 221 volunteers representing 63 groups worked across 13 waterways in Ouachita Parish, removing over 4 tons of litter from local rivers, bayous, and lakes.
This year’s Water Sweep demonstrated how deeply residents value clean, healthy waterways. Litter‑free waterways are essential to our residents, who rely on them for recreation and quality of life; our businesses, which depend on safe and attractive natural resources to support tourism and economic growth; our wildlife, whose habitats and food sources are directly impacted by pollution; and our water supply, which is cleaner, safer, and more resilient when litter is removed before it breaks down into harmful contaminants.
“Every bag of trash collected makes a real difference,” said Ouachita Green. “Clean waterways protect our homes from flooding, strengthen our local economy, and preserve the natural spaces that make Ouachita Parish special.”
