WEST MONROE, La. — Whether you are looking for your first job, considering a career change, searching for your next opportunity, or simply exploring what is available in Northeast Louisiana, the I-20 Career & Opportunity Expo is designed to help you take the next step.
The West Monroe–West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce invites the public to attend the Expo on Thursday, September 17, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the West Monroe Convention Center, 901 Ridge Avenue in West Monroe. Admission is free.
The event will bring together regional employers, educational institutions, workforce partners, and community resources for an evening focused on connecting people with opportunities.
Attendees will be able to:
- Meet directly with employers and hiring representatives
- Learn about current and upcoming job openings
- Explore career opportunities across a variety of industries
- Learn about education, training, certification, and career-development options
- Receive free résumé-building and career assistance
- Participate in conversations with employers and potential on-site interviews
- Connect with workforce and community-resource organizations
- Register for door prizes throughout the event
“This event is about creating real connections between people and opportunity,” said Kristopher Kelley, CEO of the West Monroe–West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce. “There are employers across our region looking for talent, and there are people looking for the right place to put their skills to work. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is create the space for those two groups to meet face-to-face. Whether you are actively searching for a job or simply thinking about what comes next in your career, we encourage you to come see what opportunities are available.”
The Expo is intended for job seekers at all stages of their careers and across experience levels. Recent graduates, experienced professionals, skilled workers, individuals returning to the workforce, and those considering a career change are all encouraged to attend.
Participants should dress professionally, bring multiple copies of their résumé, and come prepared to talk with employers about their experience, skills, interests, and career goals.
Kelley said the event is also designed to help attendees look beyond a single job opening and consider longer-term career pathways.
“Workforce development is not only about filling the jobs available today,” Kelley said. “It is about helping people understand where opportunities exist, what skills employers need, and how they can prepare themselves for the careers of tomorrow. We want people to leave this Expo with a better understanding of what their next step could be.”
