On Saturday, September 19th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Louisiana Tech University ("Bolt Dogs"), Union Parish High School ("Farmbots"), Downsville Community Charter School, and D'Arbonne Woods Charter School will display their talents in the robotics program at the Union Museum of History and Art, 211 N. Main Street, Farmerville.
These young people are stepping into the future as they design, build, program, and operate robots to perform specific tasks, solve problems, and compete in challenges. The event is associated with the museum's NASA exhibit, currently on loan from the Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Alabama. NASA is planning a permanent lunar outpost, known as Moon Base, which will rely heavily on robotic systems before astronauts arrive.
The museum's NASA exhibit and events, which end Saturday, September 26th, are sponsored by Benoit Motors, Judge Bruce Hampton, Justice Jay and Deanna McCallum, Union General Hospital, Entergy, Origin Bank, Walmart Foundation, Enviro Rentals, and Byrnes Mechanical Contractors.
