Beginning Homecoming weekend on Saturday, September 26, 2026 and continuing into Sunday, September 27, 2026, ULM will be hosting a Water Ski Tournament with teams coming from all over.
The tournament will be held at Bayou DeSiard on the ULM campus. The event will be free to attend, with food and drinks available. The event will include categories for jumping, tricks, and slalom. Fans are encouraged to sit in the grass area at VCOM.
An interview with Cory Crowe at Lagniappe featured two members of the ULM Water Ski team as guests; Carly Bonham from Canada, and Team Captain Ty Kosek from Minnesota.
“I can go to class, and then in between my classes go and take a water ski set,” said Carly Bonham, "It’s something I’m really proud of to have worked up to this point to be able to come to ULM, because it’s such a prestigious water ski team.”
The ULM Water Ski Team has won 29 national championships and is only six championships away from being the all-time record holder for a collegiate sport.
“I want to be the best skier that I can, and I want to win a world championship and win a national championship at the same time. And I felt ULM gives me that best opportunity. With being able to ski right away, come down whenever I feel and have one of the best coaches in the world right here on campus,” said Ty Kosek. “I don’t think that there’s any other school that I could possibly go to that would give me that opportunity.”
