National Weather Service has issued an extended Flood Watch through 4:00 p.m. on September 3rd for the west and southwest sections of East Texas, as showers and a few thunderstorms, some of which may contain heavy rainfall, should continue through at least early afternoon.
Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches, with isolated higher amounts in excess of 4 inches, are possible in the watch area. The National Weather Service advised the public to stay safe and take necessary precautions. Localized areas of flash flooding, including urban areas, roads, small streams, and low-lying areas, will be the most vulnerable.
East Texas areas, including Tyler, Jacksonville, and Lufkin, are under a moderate risk of Flash flooding. The Flood Watch has been CANCELLED for Panola, Shelby, and Sabine Counties in East Texas. The threat of flooding has ended for these areas.
