WEST MONROE – The City of West Monroe has announced that Kiroli Park will reopen to the public on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 7 a.m.
The park has been closed several months while restoration efforts took place from extensive damage caused by Winter Storm Fern in January earlier this year.
Beginning this Saturday, Kiroli Park will be open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For the next several weeks, there will be no admission into the park as there is no gatehouse. A donation box and QR code will be made available for those wanting to donate to the continued restoration of the park.
The public is asked to be mindful of ongoing work and follow any posted directions while visiting.
“The Kiroli Park staff has worked incredibly hard these past few months to restore the park so that it could be safely reopened to the public,” said West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell. “While significant progress has been made, we know the park will look different than it did prior to the winter storm. We ask for your patience and understanding as well as your support and assistance while this work continues.”
A volunteer work day has been set for Friday, Aug. 14 at the park. Volunteers who are 16 years old or older are invited to assist with restoration efforts at the park. Designated times will be from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Volunteers must check in at the park’s front entrance and are asked to wear close-toed shoes. Groups who are interested in volunteering at the park at a later date should contact the Kiroli Park office to schedule a date and time.
