The National Weather Service in Shreveport, LA has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective from 10 AM to 8 PM CDT on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
This warning affects parts of south central and southwest Arkansas, north central and northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and northeast Texas.
During this period, dangerously high temperatures with heat index values ranging from 110 to 115 degrees are expected. Such extreme heat and humidity can significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned environments, avoid direct sunlight, and check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors.
When outdoors wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or late evening hours. Be vigilant for symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, and take immediate action if they occur.
