Black Creatives Circle engages African-American artists in North Louisiana

The Black Creative Circle is fostering artistic conversations and support among African American creatives. Founded by Vitus Shale, Aaron Davenport, and Keishauna Hall, the Circle aims to provide a nurturing environment for young and underrepresented artists.

Rodrecas Davis and Jennifer Haynes join Cory Crowe on Lagniappe to talk about upcoming events.

Events include the monthly Visual Artists Meetup (VAM) at Marbles Recreation Center, where artists engage in art history discussions and critiques. The next VAM is scheduled for this Saturday from 12 PM to 2 PM. The group is also hosting an exhibition titled at the Masur Museum, featuring a Youth Art Roundtable.

For younger artists, the Kids Club offers hands-on activities every second Monday, led by facilitators Brandon Virgil Sr. and Charlene. Additionally, the Artist's Table meets every second Tuesday at Parlor 5, providing a platform for arts organizations to collaborate.

A new project called "Lights, Color, Action," involves local artists painting utility boxes around the city, supported by local organizations. For updates, visit the Black Creative Circle of North Louisiana's Facebook page.
