On July 6, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputies responded to a reported shooting during a burglary at a fireworks stand in the 2100 block of Ticheli Road.
The business owner arrived after receiving a notification that someone was breaking into the stand. He observed multiple suspects stealing fireworks before they fled. As the owner followed the suspects' vehicle, a passenger fired several rounds at his vehicle, striking it. The owner was not injured.
Patrol deputies quickly located the suspect vehicle, which contained large amounts of stolen fireworks. Investigators executed multiple search warrants throughout the investigation, recovering the stolen property and a handgun reported stolen from Ruston.
The following arrests have been made:
· Christopher Rogers was arrested after investigators recovered the stolen firearm from his possession. Rogers, a convicted felon, was booked on the appropriate firearms charges.
· Devontae Woods was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Simple Burglary.
· Donyea Woods turned himself in and was arrested on warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Simple Burglary.
· Joseph Ballard was arrested on outstanding domestic violence warrants.
This investigation remains active, and additional arrests and charges are possible.
