Heavy Rain & Flooding through Friday

Map showing flood risks. There is a 40 percent chance of flooding today.
NOAA / NWS Shreveport

Heavy rainfall and flooding remain a continued threat across most of the area through at least Friday. Wednesday and into Thursday, a tropical disturbance will move into the northwestern Gulf of America and currently has a 40% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone before moving northeast and inland across Louisiana and into Mississippi. This disturbance will bring a threat of heavy rainfall and flooding Thursday and into Friday regardless of whether it becomes a tropical storm.

Map shows flooding possible across Louisiana and will be a threat until Friday.

KEY MESSAGES

  • Moderate Risk for heavy rainfall and flash flooding today and tonight along and south of Interstate 20 in East Texas and Louisiana. Flash flooding has already occurred today.
  • Moderate Risk on Tuesday and a Slight Risk on Wednesday in Grand and La Salle Parishes for additional heavy rainfall and flash flooding. A risk for flooding still exists to the northwest across East Texas and Northwest Louisiana, but should be lower.
  • A potential tropical storm will bring another Moderate Risk for more heavy rainfall and flash flooding, especially across the Lower Toledo Bend Country and much of Northern and Central Louisiana.
