(Ouachita Parish, LA) - On May 16, 2026, deputies with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Apprehension Team (SCAT) conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 20 on an eastbound vehicle for a traffic violation.

The driver was identified as Daniel Brooks from Monroe. Brooks denied consent to search the vehicle, at which time a K9 unit was deployed and positively alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately 10 pounds of suspected cocaine concealed inside with an estimated street value of the narcotics being approximately $100,000.

Brooks was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of Possession of Schedule II CDS (Cocaine) with Intent to Distribute.
