On Wednesday morning, May 6, 2026, a two-vehicle collision on Louisiana Highway 2 at its intersection with Louisiana Highway 828 claimed the life of a Farmerville man. Louisiana State Police Troop F reported that the crash occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m., involving a 2009 Lincoln Town Car driven by 92-year-old Lonnie Pardue Jr. and a 2016 Peterbilt hauling an empty equipment trailer.

According to initial investigations, Pardue was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 828 when he reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the path of the westbound Peterbilt on Highway 2. The collision resulted in the Lincoln being struck in the westbound lane, leading to fatal injuries for Pardue, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt, who was also unrestrained, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

While impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology tests were conducted as part of the investigation.
