Monroe, La-The City of Monroe will begin construction on improvements at the intersection of Thomas Avenue and Georgia Street aimed at upgrading essential infrastructure. The project includes installing new water lines, fire hydrants and drainage systems to enhance service reliability and reduce flooding risks in the area.

Crews will also remove aging pipes and complete roadway upgrades, including repaving streets, repairing curbs and improving sidewalks. Officials say the project is designed to modernize infrastructure while improving safety and accessibility for residents and drivers.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for May 4, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at the project site. City leaders say the investment reflects ongoing efforts to maintain and improve Monroe’s infrastructure and overall quality of life.
