The East Feliciana Parish tourism board restarts after being inactive for the last few years.
The East Feliciana Police Jury voted to restart the parish’s tourism board at its last meeting after hearing an update on the board's status.
The jury signed off on previous members rejoining the board and leaving seats open for newcomers.
District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla indicates that a single bed and breakfast in Clinton continues to remit a 2% occupancy tax to support the commission, despite its inactivity over the past few years.
The tourism board currently holds $25,000 in an account available for use.
The anticipated restart aims to have a beneficial effect on the community.
