The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is requesting additional funding as its budget projections continue to rise.
During the Senate Finance Committee, DCFS officials said the new funds would support the first increase in foster care board rates in nearly 20 years.
The new funds will also be used to modernize its technology systems so that each child's and family’s information can be stored in a centralized location.
The request comes as the agency emphasizes the importance of improving both the quality of foster care and the efficiency of its internal records management.
