KEDM Public Radio’s General Manager Jay Curtis Receives Vanguard Award at Women’s Symposium

KEDM Public Radio is thrilled to announce that Director of University Broadcasting Jay Curtis has been honored with the prestigious Vanguard Award at this year’s Women’s Symposium.

This award recognizes individuals who have led by example both in and out of their organizations to support gender equality and who believe that gender inclusion is essential for effective talent management.

They provide gender-aware mentoring and coaching opportunities while practicing other-focused leadership. Nominees for this award are typically active in their career field and the community for at least seven years.

Jay Curtis has exemplified these values throughout his tenure at KEDM Public Radio, where he has championed initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and empowerment. Under his leadership, KEDM has expanded its programming to highlight women’s voices and stories, creating a more inclusive platform for the community.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Vanguard Award,” said Curtis. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our entire team at KEDM Public Radio. Together, we strive to create an inclusive environment that amplifies diverse perspectives and fosters meaningful conversations.”

The Women’s Symposium is an annual event that brings together leaders, innovators, and advocates to celebrate the achievements of women and discuss the challenges they face. This year’s theme, “From Now To Next,” aims to inspire and empower attendees to continue pushing for equality and representation in all fields.
