The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council has announced the launch of Voices of Region 8, a roundtable series designed to listen directly to artists, educators, and arts leaders across its twelve-parish service area.
The four-part series will take place in February and March and will bring together distinct sectors of the creative community - arts educators, arts organization leaders, visual artists, and performing artists - for focused, guided conversations.
Unlike traditional informational sessions, these roundtables are structured listening forums. The purpose is to gather honest feedback about the current state of the arts in Northeast Louisiana and identify the needs, challenges, and opportunities moving forward.
“We want to hear directly from the people doing the work every day,” said Abigail Handy-Garcia, Development & Grants Officer for the Arts Council. “These conversations will help ensure that our future planning, advocacy efforts, and partnerships are aligned with the real experiences of the creative community across Region 8.”
Each session will include guided discussion, light refreshments, and a facilitated priority-setting exercise to help identify the most pressing regional needs within each sector.
The roundtable schedule includes:
Arts Organization Leaders – March 5
Arts Educators – March 17
Performing Artists (including poets and literary artists) – March 25
All sessions will be held in the evening and are free to attend. Registration is required. Feedback gathered through the Voices of Region 8 Roundtable Series will be used to inform the Arts Council’s strategic planning and future community initiatives. This series is supported in part by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
