City of Monroe selects contractor to accelerate Winter Storm Fern recovery efforts

City of Monroe debris cleanup notice explaining to place vegetative debris curbside, avoid blocking roads or drains, and not stack debris near trees, poles, hydrants, or meters.

(MONROE, LA) – The City of Monroe has selected Southern Disaster Recovery to support emergency recovery operations following Winter Storm Fern. After reviewing submitted proposals, the contractor was chosen to provide debris removal, hauling, disposal and monitoring services citywide.

Southern Disaster Recovery has mobilized units in all five Monroe districts to ensure comprehensive coverage and accelerate cleanup efforts. In the first five days of recovery, City crews removed 520 tons of debris from roads and rights-of-way. Officials say the added contractor support will improve efficiency and help the community return to normal operations more quickly.

The City issued Requests for Proposals on January 30, which closed February 2. Residents are encouraged to follow Monroe City social media channels for continued recovery updates.
